Off Piste Skiing
The Mont Blanc region is renowned as one of the meccas for off-piste skiing with legendary areas such as the Grandes Montets and the Vallee Blanches. However the Mont Blanc area is more than just about Chamonix. Its legendary reputation, completely justified, masks some real off piste skiing gems in the wider Mont Blanc region, all just waiting to be discovered. In the neighboring French resorts of St Gervais and Les Contamines one can find untracked snowfields many days after a snowfall. Over the border in Switzerland, as well the renowned off-piste on offer in Verbier, there are many small 1 lift resorts that provide endless undiscovered off-piste potential. Again, in Italy, Courmayeur and La Thuile can offer great conditions when the north side of the Mont Blanc massif is not so good.
A guide can greatly enhance your off-piste experience, providing tips and instruction, finding safe areas to ski after a new snow fall or in glaciated terrain, or showing you undiscovered gems in quite resorts.
