If you are prepared to overcome the challenges of short days, increased avalanche danger, hut winter rooms, and the extreme cold, the Mont Blanc massif offers fantastic rewards for winter climbers, with a wide range of lengths and difficulties: from the relatively easy Cosmiques Arete on the Aiguille du Midi, through the longer, but nevertheless achievable, routes on the north face of the midi, to the legendary (and extremely difficult) winter routes such as the Super Couloir on Mt Blanc du Tacul and the north face of the Grandes Jorasses.
